Homeless man's killer in Norfolk could serve 61 years
NORFOLK A jury recommended that Steven Lamonte Reid, 21, serve 61 years in prison after finding him guilty Thursday of first-degree murder for shooting a homeless man who was sleeping on the front steps of a downtown church. The victim, Illinois Johnson, 53, died of a gunshot wound to the head in December 2012. He was found on the grounds of First Baptist Church on East Bute Street.
